Youth Futsal Championships a great experience for 3 Southern United teams

Over the weekend. three Youth Futsal teams travelled to Wellington for the Youth Futsal Championships. It was the first time Football South has taken three teams to the tournament in five years. All three teams showed vast improvements over the duration of the tournament and gained valuable experience playing at a higher level against the other federations.

The teams taken were the U19 Girls, U19 Boys and U16 Boys. The girls worked relentlessly hard over the weekend and improved in every game as the tournament progressed. Their best result was against Canterbury Pride who have NZ Fustal representatives in their squad.

The U19 boys steadily improved as the weekend went on and scored some impressive goals, with everyone chipping in. We had two players who received accolades, with Yun Sung Chang winning the U19 tournament Golden Boot thanks to 6 goals and Lewis Wall, the U19 Boys Captain, receiving recognition from other players and coaches regarding his performances.

The U16 boys again improved each game and were a really close-knit team who performed well together and scored some fantastic goals.

We would like to thanks all the coaches, managers and players for giving up their time to help make the tournament and weekend a success. We look forward to next year and hope to build on this year's achievements!
