Southern United FC are delighted to announce our fourth and final head coaching announcement for the upcoming 2018/19 season by welcoming back Championship winning Futsal National League team Head Coach Darren Hart.
“After a successful season last year the squad is excited to get its feet back on the court and continue where they left off, with the majority of the players returning from last season’s campaign the level of expectation is high. As always we try not to concern ourselves too much with external factors, we continue to demand excellence across everything we do as a squad, and we focus on the development of our players.” said Hart.
The Futsal National League is run over a number of weekends between October and December where teams travel to centralised locations - these are called ‘series’. Southern United’s home series in Dunedin will be held on Saturday 20 October and Sunday 21 October at the More FM Arena, at the Edgar Centre. The series will see a double-header between Southern United and rivals Canterbury United Futsal Dragons in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
The event will showcase the highest standard of Futsal domestically in the country and we encourage all Futsal and Football players young and old to come along and take a look. We will be making the event as interactive as possible, with lots of opportunities for junior and youth players to get involved over the two days.
Southern United Futsal will then play further series in Christchurch on Nov 3rd & 4th, Auckland on Nov 24th & 25th, and a final series in Wellington on Dec 7th & 8th, with the finals being played on the 9th.
Chris Wright, Football South CEO said “Further announcements about Southern United FC will be made during the coming weeks. Players, coaches and supporters are encouraged to stay in touch by regularly visiting the clubs website and social media accounts”
